Most of the time we have a pretty good self-assessment of major things. But not always. Sometimes we are missing out on things we just don’t see, don’t know about, or have turned a blind eye to them.

It was 1988 when I began advising artists on art marketing and art business advice. Since then I’ve learned a lot. Nearly all has gone into the 600+ posts on this blog, and into the six best-selling books I’ve published for artists.

This easy-to-use tool is perfect for gaining useful insights and purposeful motivation

It’s human nature. The less we think about doing something, the less we end up doing it. And, if you have convinced yourself that marketing is something you don’t like, or are not good at, you don’t think about it. That’s a shame because it does not have to be that way.

It doesn’t take too long to fall into bad habits. I’m not giving you theory. I’m speaking from personal experience. I’ve got plenty of my own and have conquered plenty as well. So can you.

The checklist represents a kind of 30-year brain dump pulled together in one place

In three decades, I’ve developed some constant themes and practices that I believe are the cornerstone for making the most of any art career. They are distilled in my Guerrilla Marketing for Artists book and the others I’ve published.

All the information in my books and blog posts form the basis of the free 36-point Art Marketing Mastery checklist I have for you to download here.

It’s printable and thus reusable as an ongoing tool for you

The checklist is a PDF. So you can print as many copies as you like. I suggest you run through the items on the list now to create a baseline. Then come back every 90 days to see how you are doing.

There is no shame or glory regarding how many boxes you check. It’s just a way to measure yourself and to motivate yourself to get going. I believe there is nothing on the list that is beyond your ability to get it done. That said, I know some things on it are challenging and you might never check some boxes.

What I do know is if you make real progress and start checking more boxes you are going to see your sales, recognition and rewards climb higher.

This is not a test. Repeat this is not a test… it’s a tool!

That it’s not a test is more than okay. It’s a tool you can use now to help you understand where you are and what you can do to improve your marketing and your career. As always, your comments and feedback are encouraged and welcome.
