Why Politics and Paint Don't Mix

I don't know about you, but all this political drama is a bit too much for me.  I often get asked if I am the Mary Charles that writes letters to the editor in our local paper about politics and such.  I  have even received mail trying to challenge my political views.  So, in case you wondered, the answer is "no".  I am not that Mary Charles.  I am thankful though that we do have freedom of speech and can share our views if we choose to.   Honestly, for me, I've never been very interested in politics. However, I do exercise my right to vote and I hope you will go out and vote too.

I feel that if you bring politics into your workplace and business, it can create unwanted arguments and drama and it could possibly even hurt your business.  I choose to live a peaceful and simple life and I want my paintings to reflect that.  My desire is to bring the viewer happiness.  Our homes should be an escape from all the madness of the world--a tranquil, safe place.  One of my goals as an artist is to provide those peaceful feelings through my paintings.

With all the political opinions flying out there we need to remember to love and respect others. Maybe Thumper from Bambi said it best, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all."

I hope all of you have a wonderful week and enjoy the beautiful fall weather we are experiencing after a hot summer.  I'll end with showing you a recent painting I finished titled, "Apple Pie in the Sky".  I hope it brings a little happiness and tranquility to your day.
