Dow and DuPont chemical companies have been modifying our foods for some time. I'm sure they are already trying to grow meat. There is a great trilogy by Margaret Atwood where scientists grow extra human organs for surgical transplants. The weird part is they are being grown on pigs. Of course, the experiments eventually go awry and it destroys the earth. I was imagining if we could grow some pork chops or a chicken cutlet in our backyards. What if an eggplant grew an egg. We'd eliminate the need for all the farm land needed to feed these animals. They wouldn't be raised in tight cages or get whacked by electric cattle prods and bolt guns. It would be the humane way to raise meat. You could present mom with a little spare rib plant for mother's day.
